ORGANIZATION OVERVIEW

CollegeTracks is a dynamic organization with dedicated staff, board and volunteers who believe that every student who graduates from high school deserves the opportunity to earn a postsecondary degree. Many qualified students from low-income and immigrant households, as well as those first in their family to attend a US college do not make it to and through a postsecondary institution due to gaps in resources and support systems needed to navigate the complexities of higher education. Recognizing that earning a postsecondary degree supports skill development, career stability, and long-term financial gain, CollegeTracks’ innovative, high-impact programs help students navigate the complex college applications and enrollment processes, as well as coach them through the financial, academic, and personal challenges they may face in college. Since 2003, CollegeTracks has served more than 6,300 students. More than 80% of CollegeTracks students have enrolled in postsecondary educational institutions and are graduating at rates that far exceeds the national average for students from low-income backgrounds.

OUR PROGRAMS

The Access Program focuses on admissions and financial aid advising, expands awareness of college and career options, identifies colleges that fit each student, uses a “Milestones to College” student workbook to take students through the critical milestones of the college admissions process, advises on college decisions, engages parents, provides hands-on help with the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and other scholarship applications, advocates with college financial aid officers, and helps analyze financial aid packages to find enough financial aid to ensure students will not be saddled with burdensome debt.

The Success Program teaches students critical college success skills, helps each student develop a degree plan, monitors and supports student academic performance, helps students secure ongoing financial aid and works with students to create a career plan. The Success program uses a caseload management approach to provide individual coaching for students as they transition from high school to college, to increase the likelihood that they will enroll, persist, and graduate from college.
